First of all, I want to point out that most sites have a welcoming board, a board where users can make a topic to introduce oneself. Another idea, a suggestions board -- maybe a sub-board in this help one. For people like me who want to post suggestions.
Another thing -- maybe a secondary skin for people whose eyes are destroyed by such bright colours, like myself. They exist.
